We are a 100% subsidiary of the HSBC Group, established in 1981 with offices in London, Hong Kong and Shanghai. We provide a range of ship broking, research and consultancy services to an international client base. Our broking and research services are part of a wider, full-service capability the HSBC Group can provide to clients who are active in shipping.
Our ship brokers and consultants offer expertise in the dry bulk, oil tanker and container shipping sectors, as well as experience in more specialist sectors such as ferries, cruise ships, Ro-Ros, car and gas carriers.
Shipbroking Services
Newbuilding contracting. In recent years we have built up a considerable book of newbuilding contracts in both the bulk carrier and tanker sectors. We have excellent relationships with most of the major shipyards. We have successfully transacted newbuilding contracts at yards in Japan, China, Korea, the FSU and Europe as well as having good contacts with ship yards in other locations around the world. Our Shanghai representative office can offer full intelligence on the new generation of shipyards in China.
Second hand sale and purchase. Our international network of contacts ensures we have the inside track on vessel availability. We can guide you closely and discreetly in making disposals from or additions to your fleet.
Tanker period chartering. We have established relationships with the oil majors and numerous national oil companies as well as with numerous independent ship owners. We manage projects from the drawing board to delivery and post-fixture operations.
Dry cargo chartering. We have a core of major international charterers and owners with whom we have developed long-term and successful working relationships. These serve to underpin the activities of the dry cargo chartering departments in both offices. We also provide containership chartering services and have extensive contacts world-wide in container shipping.
Project Consultancy
We offer bespoke Project Consultancy including market analysis, due diligence and transaction support, expert witness, forecasting and business modelling. Our consultants have experience of private equity transactions, stock market listings, M&A business, joint-venture start-ups, fleet disposals and dispute arbitration.
